In Voronezh Region, former officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stood trial for violation of traffic rules entailing by negligence infliction of severe bodily harm to girl

The Voronezh Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has finished the investigation into former senior district officer of the District Officers and Juvenile Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs over Anninsky District of Voronezh Region accused of committing an offense under Paragraph A of Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of the rules for traffic safety, which has involved by negligence infliction of grave injury to a person, committed by a person under the influence of alcohol).

The investigation established that on the evening of October 11, 2019, the police officer, being under the influence of alcohol, was driving a Chevrolet car, heading down Kranoarmeyskaya Street of the Anna urban settlement, when he swerved across the line into the oncoming traffic and collided with a VAZ 21140. As a result of the traffic accident, the 20-year-old VAZ driver and her 13-year-old passenger were hospitalized. The injuries received by the minor girl are qualified as those inflicting severe bodily harm.

At the initial stage of the investigation, the police officer refused to testify on suspicions against him. Upon an investigative motion, the court ruled to place him in custody. Later, under the burden of evidence gathered by the investigation, the police officer admitted his guilt to the full.

As part of this probe, the investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia questioned witnesses and victims of the accident, arranged the required forensic examinations, carried out other investigative and procedural actions that helped expose the police officer involved in the designated offense; therefore, the indictment has been approved and the criminal case has been referred to court to be tried on the merits.
