Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia orders to arrange probes into information reported by mass media
Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin has instructed the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia to immediately launch pre-investigative probes into two episodes of violation of the rights of Moscow citizens reported by mass media.
A federal TV channel broadcast a story about residents of one of the Moscow apartment housing complexes having problems with the utility management company. According to journalists, the designated company, apart from failure to discharge its duties of managing the apartment housing complex, set up a dormitory for migrants on technical premises of an underground car park. It was noted that representatives of the utility management company obstructed residents in holding a general assembly to elect another management company.
Apart from that, journalists reported about the illegal operation of a hostel in a residential apartment in South-East of Moscow. Citizens have repeatedly complained about its activities; however, it is still operating.
The Chairman has ordered his subordinates to give a legal assessment and promptly establish all circumstances related to violation of the housing rights of citizens. The progress and results of the pre-investigative probes will be supervised by the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
