Probe into school Director in Ulan-Ude finished

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has finished the investigation into Director of the Ulan-Ude General School No. 5 Sergey Razuvaev. He is accused of embezzlement of the funds entrusted to him and neglect of duty (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 160, and Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to the investigation, in 2017, Razuvaev had submitted to the Ulan-Ude Municipal Administration for payment a car rental contract and work certificates containing knowingly false information that a contractor had provided car rental services to the school. Razuvaev’s illegal activities were discovered by administration authorities, and the payment was not transferred.

Apart from that, in 2017-2018, Razuvaev had failed to take required measures for the safety and security of students and teachers. In particular, he had been supposed to apply to the Educational Committee of the Municipal Administration in order to equip the school with engineering assets and to provide security of the educational facility by a security service but had failed to do so.

As a result of his neglect of duty, on January 19, 2018, an underage student of the 9th grade in conspiracy with two of his classmates had freely brought to the school containers with gasoline, an ax, and other items that could be used as cold steel.

The teenager had entered one of the classes during a lesson, lit and thrown a bottle with gasoline, which had started a fire. After that, he had hit with an ax several minor students closer to him. Also, the fire had destroyed and damaged school property of a total value of over 430 thousand rubles. In addition, the student had threatened to kill a teacher and swung for him with an ax blade he had been holding.

The evidence gathered by the investigative units has been found to be sufficient to approve an indictment and refer the criminal case to the court.

The probes into the three attackers were referred to the court. Two of them were sentenced to imprisonment, one was subject to compulsory medical measures.
