Grand meeting of Public Council and Council of Heroes of the Investigative Committee of Russia

The Investigative Committee of Russia has held a grand meeting of the Public Council and the Council of Heroes.

Addressing Councils’ members, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia noted that the established form of cooperation provided a strong foundation for meeting objectives assigned to the Investigative Committee of Russia. Alexander Bastrykin told the participants of the event about the main results of the Investigative Committee operation from the moment of its creation. Firstly, he drew attention to the high solving rate of grave and especially grave offenses--over 90%--achieved in the past year. In this, in over 9 years of existence, the Investigative Committee has returned to the state and citizens affected by offenses almost 300 billion rubles.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee underlined that the activities of the Public Council and the Council of Heroes were especially important at the time when there were attempts to revise the history of the Second World War and blame for its beginning not only the Hitler’s Germany but also the Soviet Union that had undergone the treacherous attack and made a decisive contribution to the defeat of German fascist aggressors.

Alexander Bastrykin thanked the audience for supporting the Committee and participating actively in patriotically oriented events held by the Investigative Committee of Russia. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee described the organization of the All-Russian Patriotic Youth Good Deeds Relay organized by the Investigative Committee of Russia as part of special events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 and expressed his confidence that participation of members of the Public Council and the Council of Heroes would bring brightness, vibrancy, and attractiveness to the Relay. Alexander Bastrykin also highlighted the work carried out to promote the cadet movement, including the recent opening of Cadet Corps in Volgograd, which was especially symbolic in anticipation of the Victory anniversary next year, and the plans to open Cadet Corps in Sevastopol.

During the meeting, Alexander Bastrykin awarded members of the Public Council the commemorative medal of the Investigative Committee of Russia “75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War”. The Chairman initiated a minute of silence to pay tribute to Vladimir Etush and Joseph Kobzon who had been members of the Public Council of the Investigative Committee and to deceased officers and young heroes who had sacrificed their lives to protect their beloved ones.

Council members who delivered speeches in a solemn setting thanked the Chairman and the Investigative Committee team for the warm welcome, supported the main areas of collaboration, importance of the work for further development of the young people in terms of patriotism, memorializing the feat of our ancestors who had taken part in the war, and fighting attempts to rewrite the glorious history of our country.
