Today, during the Big Press Conference of Vladimir Putin, a journalist asked a question concerning problems of veterans and war invalids of the Great Patriotic War in Sochi, housing for whom was built in anticipation of the 60th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. However, according to the journalists, the pensioners live in awful conditions, almost in a ghetto, and local officials use these premises for their own needs, violating the rights of veterans and invalids, including renting the housing out to third persons for money. The Krasnodar Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has immediately launched a preliminary inquiry into this fact.
At present, investigators are establishing all circumstances of the situation, causes, and conditions that facilitated the violation of the rights of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and identifying persons responsible for it. The Central Office of the Investigative Committee is to supervise the progress and results of the probe.
