Working visit of Alexander Bastrykin to St. Petersburg

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin started his working trip to St. Petersburg with a meeting with militia veterans. Most of their lives Victor Egorshin and Victor Salnikov devoted to search and exposure of criminals. The veterans use their invaluable knowledge and experience for science and education of the young generation. The meeting covered issues of education in the Committee and other relevant aspects of the Investigative Committee activities.

In anticipation of the New Year, Alexander Bastrykin also held a traditional reception of cadets and students of St. Petersburg educational institutions of the Committee - orphan children and children left without parental care. The meeting was held in the State Academic Capella.

The event was also attended by officers of the Central Office of the Investigations Directorate, direction of investigations directorates and educational institutions located in St. Petersburg.

Professional artists and art groups of cadets and students of the St. Petersburg educational institutions performed to the Capella guests.

Welcoming the children, Alexander Bastrykin noted that annual meetings have become a good tradition: "We summarize the previous year and define plans for the near future. Such meetings with our young generation is a good opportunity to communicate and find out what kind of goals children set for themselves in the next year. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia underlined that this year we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the cadet movement of the Investigative Committee of Russia: a new Corps has been created in Volgograd, and the Committee has decided on creation of another Cadet Corps of the Committee in Crimea and an educational institution for girls.

Talking to the children, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia noted, that they study in a beautiful city, cultural capital of Russia - St. Petersburg, and they have all the opportunities to develop spiritual and moral qualities visiting world famous theatres, museums and exhibition halls. In this relation Alexander Bastrykin specially highlighted that the Investigative Committee of Russia has concluded collaboration agreements with the Mariinsky Theatre and State Petersburg State Capella. The Head of the Committee also noted the important role of involvement of cadets and students in patriotic events.

Alexander Bastrykin also told the children about Patriotic Youth Good Deeds Relay of the Investigative Committee of Russia dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War: "We called out patriotic action a Good Deeds Relay because we want to start the new year with good deeds including helping veterans of the Great Patriotic War, families of deceased combat veterans and Young Heroes of Russia. Now we are carrying out a big work and you are welcome to take part in it" - said Alexander Bastrykin.

The meeting continued with a tea party, where the children shared their academic accomplishments and future plans. Alexander Bastrykin thanked the students for their hard work and academic success.

In conclusion the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia discussed with the present children questions they had, awarded them with memorable gifts and wished them happy New Year and success in the upcoming year.
