Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia puts under supervision a number of pre-investigative probes and criminal cases discussed by mass media


A federal channel broadcast discussion of unchecked proliferation of tobacco substitutes and analogues. According to mass media, several teenagers from Novosibirsk and Bashkortostan got a poisoning from such product. One case of intoxication was fatal. The report also contained footage of such tobacco products being sold to underage persons in Moscow and Rostov. The regional investigations directorates of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched pre-investigative probes into these facts.

Apart from that, one of TV programs reported about unregistered and counterfeit medications discovered by Moscow Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor). Basing on the received materials the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate launched a probe into this matter.

One of the federal channels reported about public utilities problems of dormitory citizens in Moscow Region. In particular, it was reported that families, including those with little children, live in unsanitary conditions. The Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia immediately launched a probe into these circumstances.

Information about a fight in Apatity city of Murmansk Region, during which teenagers beat two police officers, was widespread by mass media. The Murmansk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into this fact under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of Russia (use of violence against an authority representative).

One federal channel also discussed death of a 13-year-old teenager in Anapa hospital. Into this matter the investigations directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in investigating a probe on infliction of death by negligence.

Mass media also covered a problem of defrauded shared-construction participants in Ulan-Ude. The Buryatia Republican Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in investigating a probe into Chairman of a regional subsidiary of all-Russian public organization providing help to young families and specialists in purchasing housing through participation in federal and regional programs.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed the Central Office of the Committee to supervise all designated probes and ordered the heads of the regional investigations directorates to timely report on their progress and results.
