Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia gives instructions concerning violations of rights of citizens reported by mass media

The day before, a number of mass media sources spread information on bullying of a 4th-grade female student in Ufa. The girl’s mother stated that her daughter suffered from actions of older students who beat and threatened her, extorted money, and urged her to kill herself. The Bashkortostan Republican Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia immediately launched a pre-investigative probe into the matter that would include the entire complex of assessment measures aimed to establish the truthful picture of the situation. Upon the results of the probe, the investigation will make a procedural decision.

Also, one of the federal TV channels covered the work of an illegal hostel operating in the non-residential space of an apartment building in Moscow. People living near it complain about unsanitary conditions in the so-called hostel; the situation has been present for 7 years already. It was noted in the report that the premises had been illegally sold to private owners and converted to a hostel; the court ruled to close it several times, and several times the hostel appeared in criminal reports. The journalists reported inaction of law enforcement bodies and local authorities. The Moscow Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia decided to launch a procedural probe in order to establish all circumstances of violations of the rights of citizens.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Heads of the Investigative Directorates over the Republic of Bashkortostan and Moscow to thoroughly examine all circumstances of violations of the rights of citizens in the shortest time possible and report about the activities carried out under the probes. The results will be supervised by the Central Office.

Apart from that, journalists reported a situation in Krasnodar Region where a local entrepreneur declared himself an owner of the whole settlement and put it up for sale with a farm, warehouse, and even houses inhabited by people. Alexander Bastrykin instructed the management of the regional Investigations Directorate to thoroughly check the arguments provided by mass media and report about the situation to the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
