In Tyumen, probe into woman accused of murdering infant finished

The Tyumen Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has finished the investigation into a 23-year-old local citizen accused of committing offenses under Paragraph E of Part 2 of Article 126 (kidnapping a child) and Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder of a minor attended by kidnapping) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

According to the investigation, on September 24, 2019, the woman babysitting a 5-month-old boy decided to kidnap him. For this reason, she dressed the baby and went with him to a nearby forest. After a short period of time, the woman inflicted bodily injuries on the child that entailed his death.

Due to joint search activities carried out by investigators of the Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia, officers of the Tyumen Regional Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and volunteers, the woman was found, arrested, and subsequently put into custody.

During the preliminary investigation, she was subjected to a forensic psychiatric examination that showed that she was suffering from a mental disease; therefore, she was recognized as insane in relation to the offense she was accused of. At present, she is considered especially dangerous for herself and for people around her; therefore, she requires compulsory medical treatment.

The probe materials have been referred to decide upon sending the probe to the court for the application of a compulsory medical measure.
