New Year address of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia

Dear colleagues and friends,

I’m glad to wish you all the best in the upcoming New Year 2020 and Christmas!

I am sure that my words of gratitude will be joined by all our fellow citizens, including a large part of socially vulnerable groups - children, disabled people, and veterans, who receive assistance in protecting rights in various vital areas from you, dear employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

The results of the work done in 2019 are encouraging!

Suffice it to say that investigators sent more than 80 thousand criminal cases to court last year. This is a huge and intense job.

I thank you for your successful work!

Your effective, well-coordinated and organized efforts are the keys to the peace and prosperity of our citizens!

It should be emphasized that last year we made significant progress in the investigation of crimes of a terrorist nature, including those committed against Russian troops in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Together with the operational services of the Federal Security Service of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, attempts to finance terrorism are successfully thwarted, and the channels for their external support are rapidly blocked. We immediately launch probes into the Ukrainian Armed Forces committing grave and especially grave offenses against the peace and security of mankind in the self-appointed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

Last year, efforts to solve the crimes of past years have been steadily increased in close cooperation with the agencies of inquiry. A conscientious, methodical and systematic approach to this work has been established.

In 2019, several thousand previously unsolved crimes were investigated in the course of active cooperation with the operational services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and FSB.

These indicators clearly demonstrate our ability to efficiently fulfill the tasks and the commitment of our employees to solve any crime.

It should be especially noted that in July of the past year amendments were made to the legislation that established the rules for the creation and functioning of the forensic institution in the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. This will allow us to significantly improve the efficiency of our investigative work.

We continued to actively develop our educational institutions, and in the past year, the third, Volgograd Cadet Corps of the Investigative Committee of Russia named after Fedor Slipchenko was formed.

I address my special words of gratitude to our veterans for all that they have done and are doing for the patriotic education of Russian citizens and for preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945!

Dear veterans, your efforts are especially important today, at the time when there are attempts to revise the history of the Second World War and blame for its beginning not only the Hitler’s Germany but also the Soviet Union that had undergone the treacherous attack and made a decisive contribution to the defeat of German fascist aggressors. Seeking their inspiration in veterans of the Great Patriotic War, veterans of investigative bodies, Heroes of the Soviet Union and Heroes of the Russian Federation, our young people will devote all their forces to the service of Good and Justice!

On November 8, 2019, in the Hall of Fame of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces, the Investigative Committee officially launched the All-Russian Youth Patriotic Relay of Good Deeds dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

We were actively engaged in putting in order the obelisks and graves of soldiers who fell in battles for their homeland, providing patronage assistance to nursing homes and orphanages, conducting search squads activities, promoting of exploits of children and adolescents, and much more.

Representatives of the interregional “Young Investigator” Youth Union public organization, youth organizations, and associations of the entities of the Russian Federation, public organizations of veterans of wars, military conflicts and veterans of the investigation, staff of investigative bodies and members of their families were invited to participate.

It is with this approach that our younger generation will serve the Fatherland with honor and dignity and defend the Motherland!

I wish all the best to you and all your families on the coming New Year and Christmas, wish you health, happiness, prosperity, and optimism!

We’ve got plenty of work ahead of us.

The state has allocated trillions of rubles to national projects, and people expect positive results from them. Additional measures have been taken to support families and protect future generations within the framework of the Decade of Childhood in Russia.

Every effort must be made to protect human rights and strengthen the economic security of the country, ensuring that punishment is inevitable!

I look forward to your integrity, professionalism, high moral standards, and firmness in serving the Law.
