In Stavropol Territory, young man sentenced for acid attack on girls in 2017
The evidence gathered by the Stavropol Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has been found by the court to be sufficient to sentence Shamil Chaparov, who poured acid on three girls in Budennovsk. He has been found guilty of committing offenses under Paragraphs E, H of Part 2 of Article 111; Paragraphs E, H of Part 2 of Article 112; Paragraphs A, C of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Russia.
The investigation and the court established that, on June 20, 2017, Chaparov had poured acid at the face of a 15-year-old girl passing by without any reason, and three days following that he had poured acid at two girls, 15 and 16 years of age, whom he had met on the street. As a result, three underage victims had received chemical burns of varying severity.
Within the framework of this criminal case, investigators of the Investigative Committee jointly with operative police officers conducted large-scale work to identify the person who had committed the crime, as well as to collect evidence of his guilt. Thus, investigators submitted material evidence to the probe materials, carried out forensic examinations, and questioned victims and witnesses.
The court has sentenced Chaparov to 5 years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony.
