The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues criminal investigation of a probe under Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of services which do not meet safety standards entailing by negligence severe health damage and death of a person).
According to the investigation, a structural collapse of a three-storey residential building occured in the evening of the April 19, 2021 in Margusha village of Dalnekonstantinovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Region. A a result, ceiling of the second and the third floor partially collapsed. Detailed examination of the scene of the accident revealed a death of a three-month-old child. Two other minor children and three adult residents of the building were injured. All injured persons have been hospitalized.
Two workers of Dalnekonstantinovsky District gas service, who performed maintenance works in this building on April 19, 2021, have been detained on suspicion of committing this offence.
Investigators and forensic specialists of the regional Investigations Directorate continue working at the scene of the accident, questioning suspects and witnesses and seizing documents. The preventive measure for detainees is being decided upon.
