In St. Petersburg a local citizen accused of attempted murder of a senior woman

The St. Petersburg, Investigations Directorate is investigating a probe under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (attempted murder).

According to investigation, in the evening of April 20, 2021 in a hallway of one of houses of Vasiliostrovsky district, the accused, motivated by sudden personal enmity, stabbed a sister of polar researcher Arthur Chilingarov at least two times in her head and arm in order to murder her. The accused failed to fulfill his criminal intent because of a woman exiting from another apartment. After being provided with medical assistance the 71-year-old victim was subject to ambulatory treatment.

Upon investigative actions and search activities investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia in collaboration with officers of regional directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry detained a 59-year-old local citizen having previous criminal records.  He was charged and taken to custody.

To remind, after the incident the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed his subordinates to carefully establish all circumstances of the incident.
