In the lead-up of the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin took part in commemorative events in Alexandrovsky Garden by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The delegation consisted of the First Deputy and deputies of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, heads of the Central Office departments and Moscow and Moscow Region Main Investigative Departments, veterans of investigation and representatives of educational institutions and the Cultural Centre of the Committee.

The Eternal Flame burning by Kremlin walls in the heart of Russia symbolizes sorrow and memory of grateful descendants about all citizens of our great country who gave their lives for the Homeland. The participants of the event placed flowers to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, paying tribute to all Homeland defenders who died on battlefields of the Great Patriotic War, those providing logistical support for the front and civilians - victims of German fascist aggression.

After the ceremony the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia commended the Committee officers actively engaged in memorialization of the people who died in the Great Patriotic War, in maintenance and restoration of memorial complexes, monuments and mass graves. New generations of people not familiar with hardship of those years plagued by the was have already grown up to know about the people's feat only from movies. And it is our mission not to let the feat of our ancestors to be forgotten, to pass the knowledge and the genuine facts about the Great Victory of the Soviet people to the young generation. He also reminded that the Committee continues the important work of investigation of offenses committed by German fascist invaders against civilian population and expressed confidence that results of this work will help to restore separate parts of out history and to disclosed previously unknown facts.

Alexander Bastrykin congratulated the officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the audience on the upcoming holiday of the Victory Day and wished them health and welfare.
