Criminal cases into accidents in the Perm and Khabarovsk territories which resulted in deaths were referred to the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for investigation

Eight people died in a fire in a private one-storey wooden house in Kudymkar on 1 May 2021, two of them children born in 2011 and 2016.  Perm Regional Investigative Department launched a probe under Part 3 Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (infliction of death by negligence to two or more persons).

Also, while travelling between Khabarovsk and Sovetskaya Gavan, a passenger bus carrying 32 passengers drove off the roadway and overturned in a ditch on the night of 1 May 2021. The accident occurred 140 kilometres from the village of Lidoga, Nanaysky District. 3 passengers (born in 1973, 2000 and 2004) were killed died as a result of the accident. According to preliminary data, 10 other people received injuries of varying severity, and now they are receiving qualified medical care.

Currently the criminal cases are being investigated using high-tech forensic equipment, witnesses are being questioned, and the necessary forensic examinations are being carried out.

On the instructions of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the criminal cases were referred to the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for further comprehensive investigation.  The investigators were instructed to take comprehensive measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident, including the causes and conditions that led to the tragedy.
