Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia puts under supervision investigation of a probe into fire in a hotel in south-eastern Moscow


The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Moscow Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to report on the progress of investigation of a probe under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of services that do not meet safety requirements entailing by negligence death of a person).

According to investigation, the fire started at night of April 4, 2021 in a Moscow hotel located down 6th Kozhukhovskaya street, inhabited by over 300 people. 9 people were hospitalized, 2 of them died.   There are four children among the hospitalized, at present their lives are out of danger. According to preliminary data, the hotel hosted jamboree of cadets from three regions.

Investigators continue carrying out a set of investigative actions aimed to establish all circumstances of the incident and causes that facilitated the emergency situation. A number of examinations will be arranged to establish the cause of the fire and its point of origin.

In terms of investigation the head of the Committee also instructed investigators to establish legitimacy and role of organizers of the cadet event that led to the tragic circumstances. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia put the investigation progress and results under supervision of the Central Office of the Committee.
