In Omsk Region a group of persons sentenced for embezzlements

The evidence gathered by the Omsk Regional Investigative Department was found by court to be sufficient to sentence Stanislav Matselevich, Stanislav Primakov, Rafael Petrosyan and Alexander Efremov. Matselevich was found guilty of committing an offence under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of Russia (misappropriation or embezzlement, that is, the stealing of other people's property), Petrosyan and Primakov were found guilty of Part 5 of Article 33, Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of Russia (assistance in misappropriation or embezzlement) and Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (legalization (laundering) of money), Efremov was sentenced under Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 174 of the Criminal Code of Russia (legalization of money).

According to the investigators, in 2013-2016 the accused and other persons whose cases are presented separately, acting as members of a criminal group with clear distribution of roles, had stolen funds of Insurance Investment Company LLC, which main business had been insurance of civil liability of developers, through a number of illegal schemes including write-off of monetary funds from accounts of the insurance company disguised as granting of loans to third party organizations, payout of dividends, payment of agency fees under fictitious contracts, purchase of securities and real estate property, transfer of bills of exchange to third parties, and on other fictitious grounds. As established by the court, the illegal activities of the convicts resulted in stealing of approximately 550 million rubles subsequently legalized through transfer to accounts of controlled organizations under disguise of civil deals.

During investigation the property and money of the accused in the total amount of around 500 million rubles had been seized as a compensation for the damage inflicted by the offenses.

The court sentenced Matselevich to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of 800,000 rubles, Petrosyan - to 4.8 years of imprisonment and a fine of 400,000 rubles, Primakov - to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of 600,000 rubles, Efremov - to 3 years of imprisonment and a fine of 900,000 rubles. All the convicted will serve their sentences in a general regime penal colony.
