The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia arrives to Kazan

Today the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia and his First Deputy Eduard Kaburneev arrived to Kazan in relation to investigation of a probe into attack on educational institution Gymnasium No. 175 on May 11. As a result of the committed offence 9 persons, including 7 children, died, several persons have been hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

Upon arrival Alexander Bastrykin held a working meeting with the president of the Tatarstan Republic Rustam Minnikhanov. The parties discussed consequences of the tragic events in the city educational institution. Alexander Bastrykin offered his condolences to Rustam Minnikhanov in connection with the tragedy. He noted that he is intended to hold a briefing with subordinates and representatives of all law enforcement structures, relevant ministries and agencies of the region.  Alexander Bastrykin once more underlined that investigation will establish all circumstances and causes that facilitated committing of the offence and led to the awful tragedy. He also said that he wants to personally examine the scene of the incident. Actions of all authorities that let the tragedy happen will be given principal legal assessment.

Ruslan Minnikhanov in his turn told about the work that is being carried out to support the victims and their families and relatives of the deceased.

In the Tatarstan capital Alexander Bastrykin also visited the victims that are treated in one of city hospitals. Alexander Bastrykin asked about well-being of patients expressing confidence that the hospital staff and representatives of healthcare system do their best to provide relevant treatment and rehabilitation for each patient. The Chairman had a conversation with victims and their relatives and answered all questions they had.

During the conversation the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia noted that the Committee will provide all necessary assistance at resolving welfare problems and issues related to treatment and future rehabilitation.
