Sentence imposed over perpetrators of a probe into embezzlement of over 108 million rubles of M. V. Khrunichev's State Space Research and Production Centre

Evidence gathered by the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by court to be sufficient to sentence former Director General of M. V. Khrunichev's State Space Research and Production Centre Alexander Seliverstov and subordinate to him deputy directors of Space Rocket Plant Victor Larin and Yury Yakovlev.

They were found guilty of committing an offense under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of Russia (embezzlement of property committed by person through his official position, by an organized group on an especially large scale.

Investigation and the court established that in 2011-2013 the said persons aiming to embezzle monetary funds of the enterprise concluded unlawful supply contracts for metal products with a facilitator - Compania MetalResurs - for significantly inflated price including a 120% markup. This resulted in damage of over 108 rubles inflicted to  M. V. Khrunichev's State Space Research and Production Centre. The deals concluded with Compania MetalResurs, that have been detected by investigation, violated legal requirements for purchase of goods by separate categories of legal entities, failed to consider alternative offers and lacked competitive procurement procedured despite negative opinions of relevant structures of M. V. Khrunichev's State Space Research and Production Centre.

The special complexity of investigation of the probe was caused by continuous nature of the committed offense. Due to well-planned set of investigative actions in different regions of the Russian Federation the investigation managed to establish the whole criminal scheme of money embezzlement. A complicated economic examination has been carried out.

The court sentenced Seliverstov to 5 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony, Larin and Yakovlev - to 4.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.

Apart from that, the head of Compania MetallResurs Ruslan Urazgildied, who had fled from investigation, was put on an international wanted list and a probe into him was extracted to be processed separately.
