Alexander Bastrykin takes part in Russian Organizing Committee "Victory"
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin took part in Russian Organizing Committee "Victory" chaired by the President of the Russian Federation.
In March 2020 Alexander Bastrykin became a member of the Victory Organizing Committee upon decision of the Russian President. In January 2021 the President of Russia awarded the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia a commemorative medal "75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" for active participation in patriotic upbringing of citizens and resolving of social and economic problems of Great Patriotic War veterans.
The Victory Organizing Committee is an advisory and consultative body to the President of the Russian Federation. It was established in order to pursue a unified state policy in the field of patriotic education of citizens of the Russian Federation and in relation to veterans. The Organizing Committee consists of representatives of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Government of the Russian Federation, both Chambers of the Federal Assembly, heads of federal executive authorities and representatives of a number of veteran and public organizations.
The today meeting was carries out in a form of video conference. The Committee discussed consideration of applications for the title "City of Labor Valor", as well as the progress of implementation of the federal target program "Memorialization of those fallen in defense of the Fatherland", adopted in 2019. Apart from that, the members discussed preservation, arrangement and reconstruction of military memorial sites in the territory of Russia and foreign states.
Upon results of the meeting, a list of instructions for the relevant ministries and departments was formed, including working out the issue of creating memorial books of villages and municipalities of Russia in order to establish the data of Great Patriotic War participants. Apart from that, instructions were given to develop a plan for implementation of a federal targeted program for memorialization of those fallen in defense of the Fatherland for 2019 - 2024 by the 80th Victory anniversary.
Alexander Bastrykin repeatedly underlined that our duty is to preserve the memory about the feat of our ancestors and to restore historical justice bringing those torturing Soviet people to justice despite passing of time. After all, such crimes have no statute of limitations, and the principle of inevitability of punishment of the Nazis for crimes against humanity has already become an important vector of the work of the Committee. Pre-investigative probes are launched immediately upon discovery of mass graves and probes into genocide are launched if there are sufficient grounds. Apart from that, persons showing disrespect to the USSR contribution to the victory over Wehrmacht are also brought to responsibility. A number of perpetrators have already been sentenced for downloading to Memory Bank pictures of Nazi criminals to be translated in the Online Immortal Regiment action.
Since November 2019 the Investigative Committee of Russia launched All-Russian Youth Patriotic Good Deeds Relay aimed to provide help to all people needing it, especially veterans.
In 2020 the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated an interregional motor rally "Without a statute of limitations", which was held with the support of the public organization "Outstanding commanders and naval commanders of the Fatherland", presided by a participant in the Great Patriotic War, an honorary worker of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, an honored lawyer of the RSFSR, Doctor of Law, professor, a honorary member of the Public Council under Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Yakovlevich Sukharev.
Apart from that, officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia carry out active archival work and, along with volunteer squads, take part in search for remains of the deceased during the Great Patriotic War and their reburial. They also help to identify relatives of the deceased and hand over to them the remains and items discovered during search activities including award papers and medals.
