Alexander Bastrykin instructs to refer a probe into death of workers during clean-up activities in Rostov Region to the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia

On May 21, 2021 workers of Taganrog Vodokanal Department became victims of poisoning at performing works on sewage treatment facilities in Dmitriadovka village of Neklinovsky district of Rostov Region. At present 10 bodies of workers have been brought to the surface. Exact number of victims is being identified. The Rostov Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into this matter under Part 2 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, entailing by negligence  death of two or more persons). The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed to refer all probe materials to the Main Investigative Department of the Central Office of the Committee for further careful and comprehensive investigation.

Forensic specialists of the Main Forensics Directorate (Forensic Centre) of the Investigative Committee of Russia have departed for the scene.  The investigators were instructed to take comprehensive measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident, including the causes and conditions that led to the tragedy.
