In August 1942, battles in the area of Novomikhaylovskoye village were fought for the crossing of the Kuban River. Thanks to the courage and heroism of the cadets of the first battalion of the Uryupinsk military infantry school, fighters of the separate parachute battalion of the reconnaissance department of the headquarters of the North Caucasian front, soldiers of the separate motorized bridge-pontoon battalion and civilians, the Nazi operation to force the Kuban River within the scheduled timeframe failed, and they could no longer reach the Black Sea in the Tuapse region. Addressing the audience, the head of the Investigative Committee noted that there is no family in our country that would not have been affected by the Great Patriotic War. He told the audience that his grandfather, a resident of the Novomikhaylovskoye village, was shot by the Nazis only for being a father of a Red Army soldier. Alexander Bastrykin emphasized that the war continues to live not only in the memory of the participants in the tragic events, but also in the hearts and souls of those who do not want to forget the names of its victims, making every effort to ensure that even after dozens of years, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will find graves their of grandfathers and great-grandfathers, and that not a single name of the defender of our Motherland disappears into obscurity. "Fascists committed a lot of crimes in Kuban. Today we are investigating and establishing the facts of their atrocities against the civilian population committed during the Great Patriotic War. We pay tribute to the heroic defenders. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation does its utmost to prevent distortion of the truth about the Victory, attempts to falsify history must be severely suppressed", the head of the Committee stated.

"As long as we remember about our ancestors, the memories will live and we will be able to feel like descendants of the victorious people. Heirs of people with incredible fortitude and boundless love for the country. 76 years have passed, but we continue to install monuments. This is a small thing we can do to thank the fathers and grandfathers who gave their lives for a peaceful sky,” said Veniamin Kondratyev.
