Sentence imposed over former head of Tyumen Regional Department of the Interior Ministry of Russia and his accomplice

The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by court to be sufficient to sentence former head of Tyumen branch of Passport and Visa Service Valery Kalalb and former head of Tyumen Regional Department of the Interior Ministry of Russia Yury Altynov. They were found guilty of committing offenses under Part 1 of Article 291.1, Paragraph B of Part 3 of Article 291.1 (assistance in bribery) and Paragraph C of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia (receiving of a bribe for general patronage by an official through an intermediary in the form of other property on a large scale).

Investigation and the court established that in 2017-2018 in Tyumen Yury Altynov with repeated mediation of Valery Kalalb received from a local entrepreneur a bribe in a form of different types of property totally worth 429,000 rubles for general patronage.

The court sentenced Altynov to a fine of 3.6 million rubles. He was also deprived of state awards and of the special rank of Major General of Police, and for 5 years he will not be able to hold positions in the civil service. Kalalb was sentenced to a fine of 1.6 million rubles.
