The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia holds briefing
Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin held a video conference briefing attended by the First Deputy and deputies of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, heads of the Central Office departments, regional investigations directorates and educational institutions of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The briefing included discussion of results of work of regional investigative departments of the Investigative Committee of Russia for investigation of corruption-related crimes, preventive measures against Covid-19 and a number of other issues.
Proceeding to the main subject, Alexander Bastrykin stated that during the current year 2214 probes into corruption against 2449 persons have been sent to court, the majority of which was into bribery (1486). 1411 authorities have been charged in terms of the probes sent to court. The number of probes sent to court includes 27 probes into organized groups having committed corruption-related offenses, under which 99 persons have been charged, and 4 probes into criminal communities, under which charges have been pressed against 20 persons.
Performance of investigative departments of the Investigative Committee of Russia over Udmurt Republic, Bryansk and Arkhangelsk Regions and Nenets Autonomous District was positively acknowledged. The Chairman of the Committee instructed to reward officers of the said investigative departments for the active work and excellent performance.
It was noted that in order to compensate for damage caused by corruption crimes, the property of the accused in the amount of over 13 billion rubles has been arrested during the preliminary investigation, property, money and valuables in the amount of 1.4 billion rubles have been seized, and the defendants have voluntarily compensated for damage in the amount of 6.9 billion rubles.
Performance of the investigative departments of the Investigative Committee of Russia over Bashkortostan Republic, Novosibirsk, Kostroma and Murmansk Regions showed deficiencies. Reports on the results of work in this direction and measures to eliminate deficiencies were heard at the briefing.
The head of the Committee demanded to intensify the work for solving and investigation of offenses committed at implementation of national projects. He also noted that in all corruption-related cases, it is necessary to seek full compensation for the damage inflicted. To do so, it is necessary to establish the property belonging to the guilty persons and carry out its search, including assets abroad.
During the briefing Alexander Bastrykin listened to reports on fulfillment of previously given instructions over recent incidents in a number of Russian regions. The Head of the Committee also paid attention to incidents involving children. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested detailed reports on them and put them under supervision of the Central Office of the Committee. He demanded to respond promptly to cases of violation of rights of minors, senior and disabled persons. The subordinates were assigned to prepare a synthesis report on crimes committed against minors.
Apart from that, Alexander Bastrykin informed the officers about a number of petitions addressed to him that have been received from Russian regions and gave a number of instructions. Apart from that, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia listened to a report on epidemiological situation related to Covid-19, that continues to remain stably tense. Educational organizations of the Investigative Committee of Russia are focused on strengthening preventive measures during the period of examinations.
