A probe launched into explosion of mines of Ukrainian servicemen, affecting a woman
The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of Russia (use of banned means and methods of warfare) in relation to illegal actions of Ukrainian servicemen.
According to the investigation, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during the armed conflict in the southeast of the country actively use the tactics of mining territories in areas of location of civilian infrastructure facilities not being military targets. Thus, the Ukrainian servicemen planted mines on a site located in the forest area of Glubokaya village of Nikitovsky district of the city of Gorlovka.
On June 6, 2021 a female civilian was passing through the said forest area and the ammunition exploded as a result of a contact. The woman was wounded.
The Ukrainian servicemen have once again violated the Minsk Protocol and the follow-up Memorandum; provisions of the Convention on Protection of Civilian Persons in Times of War and its Additional Protocol II; Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons, which May be Deemed to be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects, and its Additional Protocol II.
At present investigation is carrying out a set of investigative actions aimed to establish all circumstances of the said offenses and to identify officials from among the Ukrainian servicemen involved in their committing.
