A probe into rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl referred to court


The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe into Rodion Solovyev and his minor accomplice. Solovyev is charged with committing offenses under Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 132, Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 131, Paragraphs C, J of Part 2 of Article 105, Part 4 of Article 150 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violent sexual actions, rape, murder, involvement of a minor in a crime), his minor accomplice is charged under Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 132, Part 5 of Article 33, Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 131, Part 5 of Article 33, Paragraphs C, J of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violent sexual actions, assistance in rape and murder). Previously, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin put the progress of investigation of the probe under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the investigation, on May 29, 2020, in the evening, Solovyev, being in a forest near the village of Nizhnyaya Koya of Shushensky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, attacked a young girl and, by strangulation, brought her to an unconscious state. Then Solovyev, together with a minor resident of the specified village, using the helpless state of the victim, committed her rape and murder.

Both perpetrators fully admitted their guilt and repented of their deeds. During the investigation, over 40 people were questioned, about 10 inspections of the scene and a large number of examinations were carried out.

The investigation gathered enough evidence; therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to the court to be tried on the merits.
