In Irkutsk Region, sentence imposed over accomplices under a probe into abuse of authority

The evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by the court to be sufficient to sentence Alexander Korbut, Stanislav Golchenko and Denis Samoilov. Depending on the role of each, they were found guilty of committing offenses under Paragraph A of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Russia (abuse of authority).

Investigation and the court established that in January 2016 the officers of the Usolsky Intermunicipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Alexander Korbut and Stanislav Golchenko, acting under conspiracy with Denis Samoilov, being a police officer at the moment of pressing charges, delivered an acquaintance of a murdered local citizen to the police department in terms of operational support under a probe into his murder. In order to obtain confession in the committing of the said offense, the accomplices used physical force against her, inflicting injuries not entailing health damage. In that, Samoilov, while directing the actions of his colleagues, together with them exerted a psychological influence on a woman, expressing threats of violence.  

The results of the preliminary investigation were supervised by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia. The previously mentioned criminal case was withdrawn from the proceedings of the regional investigation department and transferred to the investigators of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia, stationed in the Siberian Federal District, for a full and objective investigation. The investigator of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia appointed and carried out a complex forensic examination that confirmed the fact of injuries inflicted to the victim during her presence in the police department.

The court sentenced Samoilov to 4 years of imprisonment, Korbut and Golchenko - to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment each in a general regime penal colony.
