In the Republic of Bashkortostan, a probe launched into death of six persons as a result of a traffic accident involving a car carrying passengers

The Bashkortostan Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of services that do not meet safety requirements entailing by negligence death of two or more persons).

According to preliminary data, in the evening of July 2, 2021 on the 1284th kilometer of the M-7 highway the front left wheel of a Scania truck driving towards Ufa flew off and hit the Lada Largus car that was traveling in the opposite direction and carrying passengers from Ufa to Durtuli. As a result, the Lada Largus car turned over and collided with other cars, after that it caught fire and six passengers in its cabin died.

The forensic investigators of the Investigative Department departed for the scene along with direction and investigators of the local investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia and Investigative Department officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and EMERCOM.

Currently, the scene of the accident is being examined, results of the examination will provide basis to appoint a set of forensic examinations, eyewitnesses are being questioned, all the reasons and conditions that facilitated the incident are being established. The carrier's compliance with the legal safety requirements in the provision of passenger transportation services will be checked during the investigation.
