Alexander Bastrykin holds a briefing in Saint Petersburg

Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, held an operational meeting as part of a working visit to St. Petersburg, attended by officers of Investigative Directorate II of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (in St. Petersburg), heads of the North-Western Federal District constituent entities' investigative departments, educational institutions of the Committee and Cultural Centre of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

During the meeting, the heads reported on the results of the work of the investigative units they were in charge of over the past period of the year. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia also heard reports from the heads of the departments concerning most high-profile criminal cases and gave a number of specific instructions for further investigation of the probes. The head of the Investigative Committee outlined a set of measures aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of the territorial departments in protecting the violated rights of citizens at the stage of criminal proceedings.

In addition, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee was briefed on the progress of preparations for the new academic year of the educational institutions of the northern capital, as well as on the implementation of previously outlined tasks. Alexander Bastrykin gave some additional instructions, reminding that the conditions for students in departmental educational institutions must meet all safety and comfort requirements as one of the priorities in the set of tasks for working with the young generation. Alexander Bastrykin emphasized the need to pay close attention to the right of orphans and children without parental care to enter departmental educational institutions.
