In Kamchatka, a probe into avia accident with AN-26 plane is under investigation

The Far Eastern Transport Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues investigation of a probe launched under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

On July 6, 2021 the AN-26 plane with tail number RA-26085 of Kamchatskoe Aviapredpriyatie JSC flying on the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky-Palana route and carrying 22 passengers and 6 crew members didn’t land in the destination airport. According to preliminary information, the wreckage of the aircraft was found north of the Palana airfield.

At present the investigation is working through the following versions of the accident: unfavorable weather conditions, technical malfunctions of the aircraft or piloting error.

The investigative team has arrived to examine the scene, fuel samples have been seized, the flight and operational documents have been seized from the operating company have been seized, including the flight mission, investigators continue questioning witnesses of the accident, a set of investigative and procedural activities aimed to establish the circumstances of the accident is in progress.
