The evidence gathered by the Irkutsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found sufficient by the court to sentence a 28-year-old man born in the Republic of Tajikistan.

He was found guilty of two episodes of offense under Part 1 of Article 205.1 (assisting in terrorist activities), and of committing offenses under Part 3 of Article 222 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation and handling of firearms, ammunition, committed by an organized group), Part 3 of Article 223 (illegal manufacture of weapons committed by an organized group), Part 2 of Article 209 (participation in a gang), Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 163 (extortion committed by an organized group), Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Russia (kidnapping of a person committed by an organized group). 

As established by investigation and the court, the perpetrator, residing in Irkutsk and being an active ISIS supporter, during a long time negotiated with his acquaintances in order to persuade them to join the Islamic State international organization in the Syrian Arab Republic recognized as terrorist by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, activities of which are banned in Russia. The young man induced and persuaded them to join the organization and participate in military combats for ISIS. He agitated his acquaintances to come to the Syrian Arab Republic after gaining the corresponding fighting experience and to take part in terrorist activities. 

In 2018 he illegal activities of the perpetrator were suppressed by investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia in cooperation with officers of the Irkutsk Regional Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia, Department for Combating the Organized Crime of the Irkutsk Regional Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the National Guard. The man was detained at his residence.  
The investigation established that the convict was an active member of a gang operating in Irkutsk and aimed at kidnapping of people, extortion and sales of firearms. His activities affected 5 persons.  In terms of investigation of the probe, during search activities, investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia, police officers and officers of the Federal Security Service seized ammunition and 14 firearms including 4 machine guns and 10 pistols. 

It was established that the convict personally manufactured the firearms and then sold them. A large amount of religious literature was found at his place of residence.   The criminal case amounted to 51 volumes, a number of required examinations was carried out. 

The court sentenced the perpetrator to 13 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony.
