A resident of Orenburg Region to stand trial on conviction of rehabilitation of Nazism

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe into rehabilitation of Nazism by a resident of Orsk of the Orenburg Region during The Immortal Regiment action in 2021 (Paragraph С of Part 2 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

The investigation established that not later than April 28, 2021 Andrey Akimov used an application in a social network to send to the Memory Bank website an application with a photograph of the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler to be displayed in the Immortal Regiment Online campaign along with veterans of the Great World War II and home front workers.

The conclusions of the investigation are based on a set of evidence confirming Akimov's guilt, including the results of a portrait forensic examination, examinations of computer equipment, numerous testimonies of witnesses, including representatives of the scientific community, historians, archivists, and representatives of public organizations.

Under the weight of the irrefutable evidence collected during the preliminary investigation, the accused fully admitted guilt for the deed and repented.

The investigation gathered enough evidence; therefore, the probe with the approved indictment will be sent to the Orenburg Regional Court to be tried on the merits.
