In St. Petersburg, a probe launched into violation of safety rules at performing construction works

Upon results of preliminary assessment carried out upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia into information published in mass media sources about material damage inflicted to a resident of besieged Leningrad, the St. Petersburg Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Part 1 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of safety rules at performing of construction works).

According to the investigation, no later than February 2021, a resident of an apartment in one of the houses located on Kuibyshev Street, in violation of the current legislation, carried out repair works, complete dismantling of the living premise, and redeveloped the living premise, which was declared illegal by a court decision and resulted in appearance in the apartment located below cracks around the perimeter of the room, collapse of the ceiling plaster, vertical delamination of the partition, numerous defects in the ceilings, emergency condition of the ceilings, which caused damage in the amount of over 1 million 205 thousand rubles to a resident of besieged Leningrad and her family members.

At present the damage was fully compensated to the victims during investigative actions. The issues of repair works in the damaged apartment was also settled. Thus, the rights of the citizen of the besieged Leningad were fully restored during investigation of the probe.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
