The Pskov Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is carrying out a pre-investigative probe into the discovery of a mass grave of civilians killed by the Nazis during World War II in the village of Borki in Nevelsk district.

The discovery of the location of this burial was the result of archival work done by a local teacher and schoolchildren, was also facilitated by the study of the memories of eyewitnesses of the time.

According to preliminary data, up to several thousand people shot between 1941 and 1943 by Nazi executioners and their accomplices may be in the ground.

At present, urgent investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident are carried out at the site of the excavation with the involvement of specialists from the search expedition "Dolina" Novgorod region. Upon the results of the probe, the investigation will make a procedural decision.
