In St. Petersburg, a probe launched into violence threats against a representative of authority

Upon results of examination of data published in mass media, the St. Petersburg Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into Emil Pashaev. He is suspected of committing an offense under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violence threat against a representative of authority).

According to investigation, on June 7, 2021 in Primosky Region, the blogger Pashaev, who was driving a Chevrolet car, was stopped by traffic police officers of the Primosky District Department of DPS GIBDD in relation to violation of traffic rules. During the drawing up of the report on the administrative offense, he used foul language, showing disrespect for the representatives of the authorities, and then left the driver's license and fled. Later Pashayev, under circumstances unknown at the moment, learned the personal cell phone number of the traffic police inspector who had previously detained him for committing a traffic violation. The suspect then made several calls to the police officer, threatening to use violence against the inspector himself and his loved ones.

It was established that Pashayev has been repeatedly prosecuted.

The suspect is currently detained, the issue of his arrest and pressing charges is being decided upon. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
