Alexander Bastrykin instructed to report on and to supervise the progress of inquiry into attack of a lion on a child at a holiday camp in Krasnodar Region

The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed the direction of the Krasnodar Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to report on the progress of initial inquiry into injuring of a 13-year-old girl as a result of lion attack at a holiday camp in Maryino settlement of Uspensky District.

According to available data, in the evening of July 16, 2016 the girl approached the enclosure where the lion was kept and reached out to the outer fence to take a picture of the animal. At that time the lion struck the child's arm with its paw. As a result the child received hand injuries. The victim was hospitalized, her life is out of danger. The investigators are establishing all circumstances of the incident, including the legality of keeping the wild animal at the recreation center, as well as checking compliance with the safety of its housing.

Upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the progress and the results of the inquiry will be supervised by the Central Office of the Committee.
