The Chairman of Investigative Committee requests a report on circumstances of underground bunker discovery as part of Leningrad region murder probe

The head of Leningrad Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia submitted to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee a detailed report on the investigation of the probe in connection with the high profile media coverage of the discovery of the bunker on private property in the Vsevolozhsky district of Leningrad Region.

According to the materials of the probe, the shots were fired at the victim from a vehicle traced by the investigators. According to earlier information, the vehicle had proceeded towards a house in the Vsevolozhsky district inside an area enclosed by a metal fence. An inspection of the structure revealed a basement consisting of three separate rooms fitted with metal doors. According to the results of a series of forensic examinations, including those carried out with the participation of forensic investigators of the Main Forensics Department, no traces of people in the basement were found.

The investigation has carried out all the necessary measures to investigate the premises as part of a murder probe. The basement entrance is now backfilled with sand after the appeal by the owner of the structure to the local administration.

At the same time, the Leningrad Region investigative authorities will intensify their efforts to solve past murders and continue with a set of investigative measures to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the discovery inside the house, as instructed by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee.
