The Chairman of the Investigative Committee requests a report on the progress of investigation of a probe against a woman in St. Petersburg who attacked a police officer that stopped beating of children

The St. Petersburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating a probe into a woman under Article 318 (use of violence against a representative of authority) and Article 213 of the Criminal Code of Russia (hooliganism).

According to investigation, on July 20, 2021 a woman attacked two young children, striking them repeatedly with a wooden stick. At that time a police officer was passing by, who, as a public and official duty, demanded that the woman stop her illegal actions. In response to the legitimate demands of the officer the woman reacted aggressively and struck her on the head and body.

The investigation petitioned the court to place the woman who committed crimes against children and a representative of authority into custody as a preventive measure, but the court refused to isolate the accused from society and chose her a measure of restraint in the form of prohibition of certain actions.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed the direction of the St. Petersburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to report on the progress and interim results of investigation of the probe, and put its investigation under supervision.
