The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a report on progress of investigation of a probe into disappearance of a man in Tver Region in 2019

Due to repeated complaints of a resident of Tver Region to the Information Centre of the Investigative Committee of Russia the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested a report from the direction of Tver Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia on progress of investigation of a probe into disappearance of her husband in 2019.

The preliminary investigation established that on April 2019 the Rzhev resident left his apartment in an unknown direction. He planned to go to the house of his acquaintance where he was performing repair works since February of the same year. On November 18, 2019 skeleton remains of a person identified by his woman by clothes were discovered in s forest near Pobeda settlement in Rzhevsky District of Tver Region.

In terms of the probe launched under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia the investigators of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia carries out a significant set of investigative actions and forensic examinations aimed to establish all circumstances of disappearance and death of the man. His investigation was entrusted to experienced investigators of major crimes investigation department of the regional investigative department. Over 300 witnesses were questioned and over 30 forensic examinations were carried out under the probe. On the basis of the totality of investigative actions, data indicating the criminal nature of the man's death have not been obtained.

In 2019-2021 the direction of the investigative department repeatedly received the wife of the deceased and answered her questions on the progress of investigation.

Apart from that the investigators continue carrying out investigative and procedural actions to check all versions suggested by the victim. The complainant will be timely notified about the further progress of investigation of the probe that will be supervised by the Central Office of the Committee upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
