Former head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kamchatka Territory detained on suspicion of corruption offenses

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating a probe into a number of former officers of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kamchatka Territory on bribery for patronage of illegal turnover of marine bio resources.

The investigation obtained evidence of the involvement of the former head of the Kamchatka Krai Department of Internal Affairs Mikhail Kiselev in the commission of corruption crimes. According to investigators, in July 2020, he received a bribe of 2 million rubles from a businessman through intermediaries for hiding the fact of the seizure of illegally transported fish and its return to the owner.

Kiselev's involvement in the crime is confirmed by the materials of the investigative work conducted by the Russian Federal Security Service, the confessions of intermediaries in the transfer of the bribe, information on the transfer of funds to his account.

Kiselev has been detained and is taking part in investigative actions. The investigation is planning to apply to the court for a measure of restraint in the form of custody and press charges under Part 1 of Article 286 and Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia (abuse of authority; bribery on an especially large scale).
