Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into a road accident that occurred with Russian tourists in the Republic of Turkey

In relation to death of Russian tourists as a result of a road accident in the Republic of Turkey, the Samara Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia lauched a probe under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of unsafe services entailing by negligence death of two or more persons).

According to the investigation, on August 2, 2021 at approximately 6 PM a driver of a tourist bus carrying Russian citizens to the airport from Alania to Antalya committed a road accident. As a result, 19 residents of Samara Region were injured and 3, including a minor, died.

A request for legal assistance in the criminal case is currently being prepared with the competent authorities of the Republic of Turkey, and the necessary documentation relevant to the investigation is being seized. The return of the citizens to the Russian Federation is being monitored, after which the necessary expert investigations and procedural actions will be immediately ensured.

The progress of the investigation is supervised by the Central Office of the Committee.
