In Saratov Region, a local resident found guilty of murder of a minor, sentenced to life imprisonment

The evidence gathered by the Saratov Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found sufficient by the court to sentence a 48-year-old resident of Engels. He was found guilty of committing offenses under paragraphs C, D of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder of a minor known by the perpetrator to be in a helpless state and with particular cruelty) and Part 1 of Article 244 of the Criminal Code of Russia (desecration of a dead body). 

The investigation and the court found that on November 20, 2020 in the afternoon the man was in a private house on Rabochyh Maevok Street in Engels with the 6-year-old stepson of his friend, who asked him to look after the child while he was away on business. A mother of the child at that time was in a medical institution. Being intoxicated with alcohol and drugs, the man hit the child 5 times on the head, and then grabbed a knife and stabbed the child on the neck at least 2 times. The boy died at the scene of the inflicted wounds. Realizing the boy had died, the perpetrator inflicted at least 6 wounds on the chest and neck of the boy post mortem. Upon returning home around 7 PM, the stepfather of the boy found his body on the floor without life signs and immediately went to a police department.

The officers of Engelsskoe Police Dept. of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Department for Saratov Region timely arrived at the scene and detained the perpetrator.

The accused admitted his guilt and repented.

The court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment in a special regime penal colony.
