The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested a report on progress of investigation of a probe into an offense committed against a resident of besieged Leningrad

The Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the St. Petersburg Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to report on the progress of investigation of a probe into robbery committed against a senior person - resident of besieged Leningrad (Paragraph E of Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to investigation, on August 4, 2021 an unknown man in a hallway of a residential building in Cherkasova Street stole from a pensioner a cloth bag with 500 000 rubles and fled the scene. As a result of well-planned investigative actions and search activities investigators and forensic specialists of the St. Peterburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in cooperation with officers of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a suspect in the shortest time. It was a man born in 1978. In the nearest future he will be charged and subject to a preventive measure. A set of investigative activities is carried out in order to establish all circumstances of the incident including accomplices of the suspect.

Upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia the investigation of the probe will be supervised by the Central Office of the Committee.
