Alexander Bastrykin requested a report on progress of investigation of a probe into attempted murder of a minor child in Yekaterinburg


The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested a report from the head of the Sverdlovsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia on intermediate results of investigation of a probe launched into attempted murder of a minor child by his mother (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 102 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to investigation, on August 4, 2021 the accused, while in a house in Yekaterinburg, committed an attempted murder of her child and tried to commit a suicide. Thanks to the timely provided medical aid, the life of the child was saved. The suspect also was in a medical institution.

At present, further activities aimed to collect and consolidate evidence are in progress. The crime scene was inspected, witnesses are being questioned, a set of required examinations has been appointed. Taking into account the nature and specific circumstances of the incident in the course of the investigation, it is planned to conduct a forensic psychiatric examination of the suspect.

Alexander Bastrykin instructed to establish the causes and conditions that led to the commission of the crime against the child in terms of the criminal case. The progress of investigation is under the supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
