Investigation of a probe into embezzlement of funds of Tolyatti “Municipal” non-governmental pensionary fund completed

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe into former Board Chairman of Tolyatti Municipal non-governmental pensionary fund Georgy Korostelev and Sergey Okolesnov, carrying out entrepreneurial activities in the field of non-state pension provision. Okolesnov’s activities were qualified under Part 3 of Article 33, Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (organization of bribery), actions of Korostelev – under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (swindling).

According to investigators, in 2016-2017, Okolesnov and Korostelev, residents of Moscow, illegally withdrew 48.6 million rubles from the settlement accounts of NPF "Municipal" under the guise of reorganizing the fund. They also sold personal illiquid property to the fund at a significantly inflated value of 8.4 million rubles. Thus, the accomplices by deception stole the money of the NPF "Municipal" to a total of over 57 million rubles.

In order to ensure reimbursement of caused damage and execution of the sentence, property of Okolesnova in the amount of more than 200 million rubles was seized.

The investigation has collected a sufficient amount of evidence therefore the criminal case was sent to court to be tried on the merits.
