Alexey Navalny charged with establishment of an organization that infringes on the personality and rights of citizens

The Investigative Committee of Russia continues investigation of a probe launched under Part 2 of Article 239 of the Criminal Code of Russia into establishment of a non-commercial organization that infringes on personality and rights of citizens. The charges for committing of the offense were pressed against Alexey Navalny.

According to investigation, Navalny created a non-commercial organization acting as a foreign agent – “Fond borby c korruptsiey” (FBK, Anti-Corruption Foundation, recognized as extremist and exterminated by decision of Moscow City Court). Since 2011 Navalny managed the organization together with Ivan Zhdanov, Leonid Volkov and other persons. The activities of the fund were associated with inducing citizens to commit unlawful acts

Navalny, Volkov, Zhdanov and others organized dissemination on their personal pages on the Internet and on the pages of FBK on behalf of the non-profit organization they lead, publications containing calls to participation of citizens of the Russian Federation in unauthorized rallies in January of this year. At the same time Navalny knew in advance about the unlawful nature of the planned events in connection with the existing restrictions and of holding them without the consent of the authorities. Navalny was aware of the administrative responsibility for participation in unauthorized rallies.

The investigation continues, all circumstances are being established.
