Probe launched into civilian injured by Ukrainian servicemen

The Investigative Committee of Russia continues to identify officials involved in use of banned means and methods of warfare against civilians of Donbass and consolidate evidence of their crimes.

According to the investigation, on August 9, 2021, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made targeted fire from grenade launchers and small arms at civilian infrastructure not being military targets on Yubileynaya Street in the settlement of Golubovsky in Kirovsk of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic. As a result, a 55-year-old civilian was injured.

By shelling a populated area, Ukrainian soldiers intended to kill or seriously injure an unlimited number of civilians living in southeastern Ukraine and not participating in the armed conflict.

The Ukrainian military officers had violated Protocol on cease-fire in southeast of Ukraine and Memorandum to it, as well as provisions of the Convention on Protection of Civilian Persons in Times of War and Additional Protocol II to it.

Upon this fact a probe was launched into an offence under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of Russia (use in a military conflict of means and methods of warfare, banned by an international treaty of the Russian Federation).

The investigation is establishing all circumstances of the incident an Ukrainian military officials responsible for the offenses.
