The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a report on progress of investigation of a probe into damaging of an obelisk in the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland in the Leningrad Region

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the direction of the territorial investigative department to report on intermediate results of investigation of a probe into damaging of a memorial construction perpetuating the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland during the Great Patriotic War, launched by the Leningrad Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia under Paragraph B of Part 2 of Article 243.4 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

The investigation established that three tombstones of the memorial structure located in the Vyborg district, which have inscriptions about the burial of soldiers of the 248th separate anti-tank division and the 23rd Army, have damage in the form of through holes and cracks.

The chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the persons responsible for committing of the offense. The progress and results of the investigation are to be supervised by the Central Office of the Committee.
