Investigation of a probe into an accomplice in murder committed in Vologda Region in 2004 finished

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a probe into Vladimir Andreev accused of committing of an offense under Paragraphs G, H of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder, committed by a group of persons under preliminary conspiracy, attended by robbery).

According to the investigation, in February 2004 in Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, Andreev and his accomplices attacked an acquaintance of theirs in order to steal money, beat him and murdered him by strangulation. After that, wishing to avoid criminal liability, Andreev and his accomplices hid the body of the victim in the snow not far from the crime scene.

The investigation was complicated by the prescription of the events, the destruction of traces of the crime, and the late discovery of the body of the deceased. In addition, residents of the Lipetsk Region Andreev and his accomplices were on a business trip in the city of Cherepovets for a short time, which also made it difficult to solve the murder.

A probe into an accomplice suffering a mental disorder was processed separately, a probe into another accomplice was terminated in 2007 due to his death.

The investigators collected enough evidence of involvement of Andreev in the murder, therefore the criminal case has been transferred for approval of an indictment and subsequent referral to court.
