A probe launched into prosecutor’s assistant in Primosky Territory


The Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into Assistant Prosecutor of the Primorsky Territory for Supervision of the Legality of Execution of Criminal Sentences Damir Niyazov. He is suspected of attempt of taking a bribe on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to the investigators, in July 2021, through the mediation of a lawyer and a former employee of the prosecutor's office, Niyazov tried to get a bribe in the amount of 1.5 million rubles from a person serving a sentence for fraud to support his petition for parole in court.

In connection with the detention of the lawyer with the money received, further transfer of the bribe to Niyazov did not take place due to circumstances beyond his control.

Earlier, a criminal case was initiated against the lawyer and former employee of the prosecutor's office, their actions are recognized as an offense under Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mediation in bribery). At the request of the investigation, they will be placed into custody.
